Michael Page thinks those who are writing off Mike Shipman ahead of his Bellator London co-main event clash with Fabian Edwards will be in for a rude awakening this weekend.
Shipman is a key training partner of Page’s and the striking virtuoso insisted that he is looking forward to seeing “Seabass” knock the undefeated prospect out on Saturday night.
“Venom” also declared that he’s looking forward to the highly anticipated all-British co-main event even more than his own bout.
“I get a lot of time training with Mike, he’s like my brother,” Page told MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast.
“We train all the time; he’s a beast of a person and beast of a human being. I’m actually looking forward to that fight more than I’m looking forward to my own fight. Obviously, the feud has been there for a while, but I’m looking forward to seeing Mike knocking Fabian out.”
Page agrees that most people are predicting an Edwards win in London, but is adamant that Shipman will steal the Team Renegade fighter’s momentum with a big win in the English capital.
“[Costello Van Steenis] is an incredible fighter. I feel like they’re overhyping Fabian, but mainly because of who his brother is, not necessarily because of his abilities. I don’t think there’s been anything that he’s done that makes him be known as the favorite. He’s a bit more popular [than Shipman] at the moment, but I can’t wait for the turnaround.”
