A flyweight fight between former title contender Ray Borg and Rogerio Bontorin is on tap for the upcoming UFC Fight Night event in Rio Rancho, N.M. on Feb. 15.
Multiple sources confirmed the fight to MMA Fighting on Tuesday following an initial report from Jorge Hernandez on Twitter.
The fight will serve as a homecoming for Borg, who lives and trains in the Albuquerque area. Borg will also make his return to flyweight after competing at bantamweight for his two most recent fights. Borg actually missed weight for one of those bouts but he now returns to 125 pounds where he hopes to jump right back in the thick of the title hunt with a win in February.
As for Bontorin, the 16-1 Brazilian has gone 2-0 in his young UFC career after earning his contract by way of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Bontorin holds wins inside the Octagon against Magomed Bibulatov and Raulian Paiva and he’ll try to make it three in a row while playing spoiler for Borg’s hometown fight.
Borg vs. Bontorin is the first confirmed fight for the upcoming UFC card in New Mexico with a main event still to be determined.
