On Monday, new bouts were confirmed via press release for the UFC’s debut in Raleigh.
Among them were a strawweight bout between former Invicta FC champion Brianna Van Buren (9-2) and Hannah Cifers (10-3) and a bout between top-15 ranked flyweights Jordan Espinosa (14-6, 1 NC) and Alex Perez (22-5).
Van Buren made a successful UFC debut in July, stepping in on short notice for an injured Cynthia Calvillo. She went on to defeat fellow former strawweight champion Livia Renata Souza by unanimous decision to record her sixth consecutive victory, which included winning a one-night, eight-woman tournament for Invicta in May.
Cifers has won two straight since losing her UFC debut. “Shockwave” is coming off of back-to-back decision wins over Jodie Esquibel and Polyana Viana.
Espinosa will be looking to right the ship after losing by first-round triangle choke to Matt Schnell in September, while Perez has won four of five since making his UFC debut two years ago. In his most recent outing at UFC on ESPN 2, Perez defeated Mark De La Rosa by unanimous decision.
UFC Raleigh takes place at PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C., on Jan. 25. The main card will air on ESPN+.
