UFC Fight Night: Smith vs Rakic (RESULTS)

Winning bets

Sean Brady (+0.71 units)

This was supposed to be a 2 leg parlay with Ankalaev but turned into a 3 unit straight bet on Brady when the Ankalaev fight got scrapped. Brady performed as expected by finishing Aguilera in the 2nd round by guillotine choke. The fight was competitive for a little while but Brady’s power and pure ability took over. He remained undefeated and deserves a nice step up in competition for his next fight.

Polyana Viana (+1.12 units)

Polyana Viana proved to be the better fighter here submitting Whitmire in round 1. We felt Viana was better everywhere before the fight and the skill difference showed. The wrong fighter ended up being favored and we were fortunate to take advantage of the flawed line.

Alexa Grasso & Aleksandar Rakic parlay (+1.8 units)

Alexa Grasso was successful in her flyweight debut against Kim. We felt she had the superior striking going into the fight and that’s what she displayed. Kim was there to be hit and Grasso took advantage of it.

Aleksandar Rakic surprisingly was able to manhandle Smith on the mat for much of their fight. Prior to that he landed some devastating leg kicks which compromised Smith. The fight wasn’t very exciting but it was a dominant performance for Rakic.

UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs Sakai (PLAYS)

Andre Muniz over Bartosz Fabinski +140 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 9/3/20.

Bartosz Fabinski is known for having a grinding wrestling style which most of his opponents haven’t been able to deal with. He has been subbed 2 times in his career however so his style has been exploited before.

Andre Muniz is riding a 5 fight winning streak and welcomes a grappling matchup. He has excellent BJJ and actively seeks submissions while on the mat. His striking is an underrated aspect of his game. Muniz has had trouble against heavy handed punchers that could KO him in the past. Fortunately for him Fabinski doesn’t fit that mold so Muniz looks live here at nice dog odds.

Michel Pereira over Zelim Imadaev -105 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 9/3/20.

This is a matchup between 2 fighters with exciting, reckless fight styles. Imadaev is 0-2 in the UFC with a close decision loss and a KO loss. We feel he isn’t a very good fighter in general and probably doesn’t belong in the UFC. Danny Roberts was able to expose this and he isn’t a very good fighter himself.

Michel Pereira isn’t a world beater either but he is a more talented fighter than Imadaev. His striking is cleaner and he packs good power. Also Pereira has more than 3 times the amount of experience than does Imadaev. We were fortunate to be able to get in on Pereira at the slightest of dog odds because we feel he is the better fighter here.

Viviane Araujo & Alistair Overeem parlay +162 (2 units) Bet was placed on 9/3/20.

Viviane Araujo is the far superior striker in her fight against Montana De La Rosa. She may even be the better grappler as well. De La Rosa has bad striking and needs to get the fight to the ground to have a chance. The only issue Araujo has shown in the past is a bad gas tank as the fight gets later. If this fight stays standing Araujo will roll. Even if it hits the mat as long as her gas tank holds up she most likely will have done enough damage on the feet to get the decision.

Alistair Overeem is 40 years old and is one of the greatest mma fighters of all time. Even at that advanced age he is currently one of the top 6 heavyweights in the world today. His recent losses have only come against higher ranked opponents.

Augusto Sakai has a nice 15-1-1 record. He’s won his last 6 fights but that’s a little misleading. Many believe he should’ve lost to Andrei Arlovski. And if not for getting away with a blatant fence grab against Blagoy Ivanov, he was on his way to losing that fight too.

The bottom line here is there’s a big difference in experience and ability between the two fighters. Overeem is better than Sakai everywhere and needs to avoid a one punch KO. His chin actually has looked decent over his last few fights and Sakai isn’t a one punch KO artist. Overeem should be able to expose Sakai for not being as good as his record indicates.
