UFC on ABC 2: Vettori vs Holland (RESULTS)
Winning Bets – None
Losing Bets
Jack Shore ITD (-0.5 units)
Jack Shore was able to get the victory but winning inside the distance never materialized. Hunter Azure proved to be a game opponent and was able to keep himself out of trouble and not get finished.
Joe Solecki ITD (-1 unit)
Just like Jack Shore, Joe Solecki was able to get the decision victory. Jim Miller proved to be durable and didn’t fade as bad as we hoped for as the fight got extended.
Julian Marquez & Sam Alvey FGTD (-1 unit)
We felt this fight would be low volume and make it to the judges scorecards. Just the opposite occurred as both fighter threw heavy punches for the duration of the fight. The fight ended in round 2 when Marquez was able to choke out a hurt Sam Alvey.
Nina Nunes by decision (-2 units)
This was a bad bet as it never had a chance to win. We felt Nunes was better on the feet and had good enough submission defense if the fight hit the ground. Dern proved to be better on the feet and quickly submitted Nunes once the fight hit the ground.
Jack Shore / Joe Solecki / Nina Nunes / Mateusz Gamrot / Marvin Vettori parlay (-1 unit)
All legs of the parlay hit with exception to Nunes which made her loss especially tough. Parlays pay so good because they’re hard to hit but ultimately they’re sucker bets.
UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs Gastelum (PLAYS)
Tony Gravely over Anthony Birchak by decision +225 (0.5 units) Bet was placed on 4/16/21.
Tony Gravely should have success with his wrestling in this spot. The feeling here is he can and will take down Birchak and control him on the mat for long periods of time.
Birchak has accredited BJJ and should be comfortable from his back. The question however remains if Birchak can avoid being pounded out or submitted himself over the course of 15 minutes. At odds of +225 we’re willing to take a chance to find out.
Gerald Meerschaert over Bartosz Fabinski by submission +240 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 4/16/21.
This matchup appears to be destined to mostly take place on the mat. Bartosz Fabinski sells out for takedowns and Gerald Meerschaert is comfortable fighting from his back.
Fabinski has been submitted in 2 of his last 3 fights and Meerschaert is a big time submission threat. We’re hoping that Fabinski makes a mistake at some point on the mat. If he does Meerschaert is more than capable of making him pay for it by subbing him.
Juan Espino over Alexander Romanov +115 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 4/16/21.
This is a fight between two relatively unproven heavyweights at the UFC level. Romanov is undefeated at 13-0 and hold 2 UFC victories. Espino is 10-1 and has 1 UFC victory to go along with his Ultimate Fighter tournament victory
Espino is the better technical fighter and will look to use his wrestling and BJJ. Romanov is know for his hip tosses and brute strength. However ends up on top on the mat is going to be in position to end the fight and we’ll take Espino to get there at dog odds.
Alex Muñoz over Luis Peña by decision +250 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 4/16/21.
Luis Peña enters this fight with more mma and UFC experience. With that being said he’s lost 3 times to ok at best competition and his UFC wins are over questionable competition. The bigger issue is his poor take down defense and willingness to fight off his back for long periods of time.
Alex Muñoz has a wrestling base and should look to take the fight to the ground. We feel he’ll be successful in doing so and should be able to control Peña in the ground for long periods of time. Muñoz isn’t much of a finisher so we see him being able to grind out Peña over 3 rounds and get the decision victory.
Drakkar Klose over Jeremy Stephens by decision +220 (0.5 units) Bet was placed on 4/16/21.
This fight is a contrast in styles as Klose is a decision fighter while Stephens looks to take your head off. Klose has proven to be mostly durable throughout his career so we feel this fight will make it to the scorecards.
Stephens is moving back up to lightweight so Klose will be the naturally bigger fighter. We feel Klose will be able to accumulate enough points over the course of the fight to get the nod on the judges scorecards.
Kelvin Gastelum over Robert Whittaker +200 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 4/16/21.
Robert Whittaker appears to be back on the right track after losing his title 3 fights ago to Israel Adesanya. He’s on a 2 fight winning streak and is one of the top 3 middleweights in the world. He has however been getting hit clean of late.
Kelvin Gastelum hasn’t been the same fighter since his epic title fight war with Adesanya. He’s gone 1-2 since then with some questionable performances. This is the type of fight to make him a player again in the middleweight division. We feel he’ll show his best effort in this spot and he has the power to hurt and finish Whittaker. With his experience and durability he shouldn’t be this big of an underdog in this spot.
