Capper’s Delight – (6/26/21) UFC Fight Night: Gane vs Volkov

Last week was a rough week. Getting reverse swept is never a good time. Our bets ended up going 0-6 for a total loss of 4.25 units. Year to date we are down 29.91 units. All bets are 3rd party tracked at Betmma.tips under the handicapper profile name MMAInformed.com.

UFC Fight Night: Korean Zombie vs Ige (RESULTS)

Winning Bets – None

Losing Bets

Lara Procopio by decision (-0.5 units)

The avalanche of losses began with this fight. We felt Procopio would be able to out-volume O’Neil and pick up a decision victory. What really happened was that O’Neil was the much better fighter and was even able to submit Procopio in round 3.

Lara Procopio & Sergey Spivak ITD PARLAY (-1 unit)

Once Procopio lost the parlay was dead. To make matters worse Spivak wasn’t able to finish Olenik either so this parlay never had a chance of winning.

Dhiego Lima by decision (-0.5 units)

This fight actually was playing out how we thought it would. Lima was controlling the fight with his striking from the outside. Everything changed in an instant once Brown landed a vicious head strike which ended the fight with Lima getting knocked out face first.

Julian Erosa over Seung Woo Choi & ITD (-1.5 units)

This bet never had a chance. You could tell within the first 10 seconds that Choi was too fast for Erosa. It was only a short matter of time (97 seconds to be exact) before Choi dropped Erosa and finished him shortly after.

Dan Ige ITD (-0.5 units)

We took a shot on the surging Ige and he couldn’t get the job done. The Korean Zombie proved to be too big and too experienced for Ige to overcome. He went on to win a convincing unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night: Gane vs Volkov (PLAYS)

Warlley Alves over Jeremiah Wells ITD +100 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 6/25/21.

On paper this appears to be a complete mismatch. Alves is a 12 fight UFC veteran with some good wins including a victory over Colby Covington. Wells is making his UFC debut on very short notice and is coming from the northeast regional scene.

Fights aren’t fought on paper however and Wells is only one punch away at anytime from a victory. The most likely outcome however is that Alves will be too much for Wells to handle. He should be able to break Wells down and either finish the fight by KO or submission.

Renato Moicano over Jai Herbert ITD +120 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 6/25/21.

This is another fight that appears to be a mismatch on paper. It wasn’t that long ago that Moicano was highly ranked and on the verge of a title shot. He has regressed however going 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Now he gets a big step down in competition going against Jai Herbert.

Herbert was on his way to victory in his UFC debut against Francisco Trinaldo. Then Trinaldo landed a shot to his forehead and finished him. Herbert has good power and Moicano has proven to be chinny at times. Even with that being the case Moicano is the superior fighter in this spot. If Moicano is still an elite fighter he figures to show it here and get an impressive finish victory.

Raoni Barcelos & Ciryl Gane parlay +127 (2 units) Bet was placed on 6/25/21.

Raoni Barcelos is a dark horse contender in the UFC’s Bantamweight division. He’s gone 5-0 in the UFC and has been impressive in every bout. He can beat you on the feet or on the floor and is a high volume fighter. Timur Valiev is a nice fighter himself but isn’t on Barcelos’ level.

Ciryl Gane is undefeated and is also 5-0 in the UFC. He’s moving up the ranks quickly as he’s already ranked 3rd in the heavyweight division. Gane is super athletic and fights smartly. He normally picks apart his opponents from the outside and has a sneaky good submission game as well.

Standing in his way is the surging Alexander Volkov. Volkov is also on the cusp of a title shot and has been impressive lately as well. With that being said we’re going with the more athletic Gane in this spot. The last time Volkov fought an athletic fighter (Curtis Blaydes) he was dominated. Gane isn’t the wrestler Blaydes is but he can dominate from the outside. Also if the fight hits the ground he’s live for a submission as well. We feel this will be Gane’s coming out party to the casual mma fan.
