UFC Fight Night: Vieira vs Tate (RESULTS)
Winning Bets
Taila Santos / Sean Brady parlay (+1.45 units)
Taila Santos has a breakthrough performance announcing herself as a contender in the women’s flyweight division. She was able to finish Joanne Wood in round 1 by rear naked choke.
Sean Brady wasn’t as dominant but also got the job done by defeating Michael Chiesa by unanimous decision. Brady’s ground game was dominant but he was surprisingly getting out struck by Chiesa who isn’t known for his striking.
Losing Bets
Taila Santos / Miesha Tate parlay (-1.5 units)
Unfortunately we had Tate on almost all of our parlays so that automatically killed those tickets. We were suckered into the hype that Tate was back and was going on a title run. She looked great against Marion Reneau but that was Marion Reneau. A fighter who wasn’t very good, was 44 years old, and had announced this would be her last fight prior to the matchup.
We overlooked the fact that Ketlen Vieira is a legit, ranked, talented fighter in her prime. Once Tate couldn’t take the fight to the ground it left her to have to use her striking to get the victory. Needless to say her striking needs help along with her striking defense. Vieira put a beating on her and Tate’s face showed it. Meanwhile Vieira exited the fight unmarked.
Sean Brady / Miesha Tate parlay (-1 unit)
This was another parlay that Tate ended up ruining. We were on the right side with Brady but we parlayed him with the wrong fighter and paid for it
Taila Santos / Sean Brady / Miesha Tate parlay (-1 unit)
Sadly this was yet another parlay that lost because of having Tate on it. Santos and Brady did their job getting victories. Once again this is the risk in putting too much faith in one fighter on multiple parlay tickets.
UFC Fight Night: Font vs Aldo (PLAYS)
Jose Aldo over Rob Font +125 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 12/3/21.
Jose Aldo is a living legend who’s still a very good fighter this late into his career. Also he only loses to the best of the best. His record against fighters who’ve never been a champion before is 26-1. Rob Font has never been a champion.
Font is on a 4 fight winning streak and is in the best form of his career. He’s one of the best pure boxers in all of mma and has underrated grappling skills. The problem for him is that Aldo is a better overall striker and is dangerous early in the fight. While a 5 round fight for Aldo at this stage in his career isn’t ideal, we feel he’s good enough to get the win.
Jamahal Hill over Jim Crute +140 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 12/3/21.
This is a striker vs grappler matchup. Where the fight mostly takes place should determine the winner. Jamahal Hill is the better technical striker and enjoys a 5 inch reach advantage. He has good power and needs to keep the fight standing for his best chance at winning.
Jimmy Crute is good everywhere but would be better off implementing a grapple heavy game plan. He does like to mix it up on the feet however and that’s what we’re hoping he does. If he gets caught in a striking affair then he’ll most likely lose. The odds on Hill were too good to pass up because we still believe in his abilities.
Maki Pitolo over Dusko Todorovic +135 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 12/3/21.
This seems like an easy fight to break down. Pitolo is the better striker and wrestler. Also Todorovic has a nasty habit of keeping his chin straight up in the air while throwing punches. The path to victory is there for Pitolo to get a finish or win by decision. These are 2 evenly matched fighters and we’ll side with the one sporting underdog odds.
Louis Smolka / Alonso Menifield / Alex Morono parlay + 260 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 12/3/21.
Louis Smolka is an up and down fighter. But he generally loses to fighters better than him and beats fighters worse than him. Vince Morales is worse than him. As long as Smolka is in a good state of mind he should get a dominant victory in this spot.
Alonso Menifield has bounced back with 2 wins in a row after losing 2 straight. He’s beaten better fighters in his career than Knight. The same can’t be said for Knight. An encouraging thing for Menifield is he showed improved cardio in his last fight. He’s simply the better fighter in this spot and should get the victory.
Alex Morono is yet another fighter who is flat out better than his opponent. Gall appears to be improving but he still lacks a quality win in his 9 fight UFC career. Morono pretty much has Gall covered everywhere and should get the job done barring something unforeseen occurring.
