UFC Fight Night: Font vs Aldo (RESULTS)

Winning Bets

Jose Aldo (+1.25 units)

Aldo’s world class mma experience came into play in his victory over Font. He started off slow and was on the brink of losing round 1 until he was able to drop Font near the end of it. He was able to make adjustments most notably implementing his legendary leg kicks to slow down Font. Ultimately his power was too much for Font to handle and he was able to lock up a unanimous decision victory.

Jamahal Hill (+1.40 units)

Crute didn’t make an effort to implement his grappling and decided to bang with Hill. The result was him getting knocked out in round 1. Too much was made of Hill’s loss to Paul Craig in his last fight. He made the mistake of playing Craig’s game on the ground and got finished because of it. The talent was still there and they’re not too many people who will beat him in a striking affair. Crute thought he could strike with him and was badly mistaken.

Losing Bets

Maki Pitolo (-1 unit)

Our read was off on this fight as we felt Pitolo was the better wrestler. He was doing good on the feet then Todorovic decided to take the fight to the ground. From there Pitolo was like a fish out of water as he couldn’t keep Todorovic off of him. With Pitolo unable to get back to his feet he succumbed to the nonstop pressure and was finished in round 1.

Louis Smolka / Alonso Menifield / Alex Morono parlay (-1 unit)

This parlay was doomed from the beginning with Smolka being on it. He had a reputation for being durable since he had never been knocked out before. That all changed with one punch from Morales. He dropped Smolka face first in round 1 and the fight was over.

Even had Smolka won, the parlay would’ve still lost because it had Menifield on it. Menifield lost a close decision but it was justified as he chose to just hold Knight for most of round 3. Once they separated Knight was willing to let his hands go for the remainder of the round. Because Menifield literally did nothing but hold, Knight was able to take that round and the fight.

The only winner on the 3 leg parlay was Morono. He was able to out volume and out strike Gall for most of the fight. It makes sense because Morono was the better striker. Gall needed the fight to play out on the ground for his best chance to win but it never made it there.

UFC 269: Oliveira vs Poirier (PLAYS)

Charles Oliveira over Dustin Poirier +125 (5 units) ***MAX BET***Bet was placed on 12/10/21.

This is Dustin Poirier’s 2nd chance to touch UFC gold. He’s been an interim champion but never the actual champion. He comes into this title shot the winner of 3 straight after losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in his 1st title shot. Win or lose he’s still going down as one of the best of all time.

Poirier is known for his power and heart. He’s been in a few wars and has come back to win. Most recently are the Gaethje and Hooker fights. In both those fights he was down early and came back to win. Poirier seems to be ok with taking shots in order to give some back. That type of fighting style could get him in trouble against Oliveira.

Charles Oliveira is the current champion riding a 9 fight winning streak. He turned into a monster after his loss to Paul Felder. Oliveira has always been known for his BJJ. His wrestling is good as well. Now he’s evolved into a dangerous striker too.

All of those skills are going to cause problems for Poirier. He’s fairly easy to hit and take down. If the fight hits the ground Poirier will be at risk to get submitted. Poirier seemingly will need to hurt and finish Oliveira to get the victory. If that doesn’t happen then he most likely will be the one getting finished as this fight going 5 rounds seems unlikely. The pick is Oliveira to get the job done at dog odds.
