UFC Fight Night: Font vs Vera (RESULTS)
Winning Bets
Andrei Arlovski by decision (+1.50 units)
We were very fortunate to have the decision go our way in this fight. Most observers believe Collier should’ve been given the decision. But if you’re going to be in a close fight against Arlovski the judges tend to lean his way on the scorecards.
Marlon Vera (+210 units)
Simply put the wrong fighter was favored here. Font got off to a fast start clearly winning round 1. But after that it was basically all Marlon Vera. His power was too much for Font to handle and Font never hurt him. Font showed incredible heart as there were multiple times he could’ve been finished but hung around to the very end.
Losing Bets
Daniel Da Silva ITD (-1 unit)
This turned out to be a bad bet as Figueiredo was able to get a submission early in round 1. We felt Da Silva was live on the feet but didn’t realize he would be that outclassed on the ground.
Jared Gordon (-1 unit)
We knew Dawson was tough and could outwrestle Gordon in this spot and he did. However we felt Gordon’s experience and well roundedness could overcome that and it wasn’t the case. Dawson wore him out and got the late submission victory.
Daniel Da Silva / Marlon Vera / Andre Fili parlay (-1 unit)
This parlay never had a chance as it ended early with the Da Silva loss. Even had he won it would’ve been a loser when Fili got TKO’d early in his fight. This bet was just a bad read on our part.
UFC 274: Oliveira vs Gaethje (PLAYS)
Blagoy Ivanov ITD over Marcos Rogerio de Lima +210 (2 units) Bet was placed on 5/6/22.
Marcos Rogerio de Lima generally beats bad fighters and loses to the good ones. Ivanov is a good fighter who’s as tough as they come. We feel Ivanov will be able to withstand Rogerio de Lima’s attack and eventually break him. If the fight hits the ground Rogerio de Lima is a known quitter and most likely will be looking for a way out.
Joe Lauzon round 1 over Donald Cerrone +700 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/6/22.
This fight very well may be the last one for both fighters win or lose. Cerrone is on a 5 fight losing streak although mostly against elite competition. Lauzon won his last fight but that was 30 months ago. Cerrone looks like he just doesn’t have it anymore and is a slow starter. Lauzon also may not have it either but he starts fast and strong. We’re taking a shot on Lauzon getting the job done in round 1 at generous odds.
Justin Gaethje ITD over Charles Oliveira +200 (2 units) Bet was placed on 5/6/22.
This fight is a complete toss up and can go either way. What would be a surprise is if it went the distance as both are potent finishers. Oliveira is on a crazy win streak but has been hurt and dropped in each of his last 2 fights. Gaethje is an absolute animal and is one of the hardest hitters in all of mma.
We see the fight playing out on the feet where all of Gaethje’s win condition is at. If Gaethje drops Oliveira he’s smart enough not to enter his guard and would force him to stand back up. If Oliveira is able to take the fight to the ground just once Gaethje most likely will get submitted. Gaethje’s inside the distance number was too good to pass up in a closely lined fight that we strongly feel will end by some sort of finish.
Lupita Godinez / Norma Dumont parlay +120 (2 units) Bet was placed on 5/6/22.
Lupita Godinez is the superior fighter everywhere in her matchup against Carnelossi. On top of that she’s also the bigger fighter with the better cardio. We see her most likely taking the fight to the ground and controlling Carnelossi for long periods of time ultimately getting the victory.
Norma Dumont is the much better striker in her matchup against Chiasson. She’s also very difficult to take down so we feel this fight will play out on the feet. Chiasson probably will attempt to get the fight to the ground but we feel that won’t happen. If that’s the case Dumont most likely will win a unanimous decision with a finish not being out of the question.
Blagoy Ivanov & Marcos Rogerio de Lima / Donald Cerrone & Joe Lauzon / Charles Oliveira & Justin Gaethje FDGTD parlay +227 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/6/22.
We’re going with a violence parlay here as we feel all of these fights should end inside the distance. Rogerio de Lima most likely will get an early finish or get finished later. We feel the exact same for Joe Lauzon in his fight against Cerrone. And as we stated earlier we’d be shocked if the main event made it to the final horn as both fighters are elite finishers.
Lupita Godinez / Norma Dumont / Blagoy Ivanov & Marcos Rogerio de Lima / Donald Cerrone & Joe Lauzon / Charles Oliveira & Justin Gaethje FDGTD parlay +619 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/6/22.
We decided to take our 2 leg women’s parlay and 3 leg violence parlay and combine them for one 5 leg parlay. Betting parlays in general are bad bets and are the main reason why we’re down units overall. With that being said we feel strong about these plays this week so let’s see what happens.
