Welcome back to Capper’s Delight. We’re coming off a losing week for the last card. Our bets went 1-5 for a total loss of 1.74units. Year to date our bets are down 31.28 units. All bets are 3rd party tracked at Betmma.tips under the handicapper profile name MMAinformed.com.

UFC 277: Peña vs Nunes (RESULTS)

Winning Bets

Alexandre Pantoja / Brandon Moreno parlay (+1.18 units)

Pantoja came out like a man possessed and went right after Perez. He ended up taking Perez’s back and submitted him shortly after. The submission wasn’t even a choke but was a neck crank. Pantoja made it look easy and won like a -800 favorite.

Moreno started off the fight looking sharp and presumably won the first 2 rounds. Then in round 3 Kara France started to land on Moreno and appeared to begin taking over the fight. Then out of nowhere Moreno landed a body kick which caused Kara France to crumble and the fight was over shortly after.

Losing Bets

Don’tale Mayes / Magomed Ankalaev by decision / Amanda Nunes / Rafael Alves parlay (-0.42 units)

This parlay never had a chance as we made the mistake of putting Mayes on it. That was risky because Mayes isn’t very good and we didn’t know anything about Abdelwahab. Mayes ended up losing a unanimous decision.

Ankalaev got the win but not by decision. His fight ended in a fluky way like fights have ended in the last few cards. Smith hurt his leg and Ankalaev was able to get a finish in round 2.

Nunes did what we expected her to do and dominated Peña. We knew the 1st fight had everything to do with Nunes not taking Peña serious as opposed to Peña being the better fighter. This fight looked like the 1st fight should’ve.

We took an underdog chance on Alves and he had his moments. In the end there are levels to mma and Dober is just on another level than Alves. He was able to withstand everything Alves had and still finished him in round 3.

Amanda Nunes & Julianna Peña / Drew Dober & Rafael Alves FDGTD parlay (-1 unit)

The parlay started off well when Dober was able to finish Alves in round 3. We knew that would be a violent fight and it didn’t disappoint.

The Nunes fight somehow went the full 5 rounds making the parlay a loser. Peña was hurt numerous times on the feet and survived a deep submission attempt late. She even had Nunes having to defend her own submissions. But it was Peña’s toughness which ultimately led to the fight going the distance.

Drakkar Klose / Matt Semelsberger parlay (-1 unit)

Klose was able to do enough in his fight to get the victory. This too was a levels fight where Klose was on another level compared to Garcia. The fight was competitive but ultimately Klose did enough to justify the win.

We were off on our read on Semelsberger. We felt he was the better fighter against Morono. The truth was Morono was the more experienced and accomplished fighter. He showed it as he was the better striker and clearly outpointed Semelsberger thus killing the parlay.

Matt Semelsberger over Alex Morono by KO (-0.5 units)

We had faith in Semelsberger so we took him by KO. That realistically was his main win condition but he couldn’t get it done. Morono was able to school him on the feet and completely close one of Semelsberger’s eyes. The bottom line is we put too much faith in Semelsberger based on how he was able to finish weak competition.

UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Hill (PLAYS)

Unfortunately we don’t have any plays for this card and it wasn’t by design. We actually made bets on Josh Quinlan ITD and in round 1 over Jason Witt. Shortly after making those bets we found out the fight was called off and moved to next week thus voiding our bets.

Depending on the line we may make the same bets for next week on Quinlan. And I’m sure sure we’ll have bets on some of the other fights as well. Tune in to next weeks “Capper’s Delight” to find out.
