UFC 279: Diaz vs Ferguson (RESULTS)

Winning Bets

Khamzat Chimaev & Kevin Holland under 1.5 rounds (+1.30 units)

Chimaev came out looking to finish Holland early and was successful at doing so. He went for the takedown in the 1st second of the fight. Holland tried hard to avoid the takedown but Chimaev’s pressure was too much. Once on the ground it was only a matter of time before Chimaev was able to lock up a D’arce choke and finish the fight in round 1.

Losing Bets

Yohan Lainesse & Darian Weeks / Hakeem Dawodu & Julian Erosa under 2.5 rounds parlay (-1 unit)

This turned out to be a bad bet as both fights went to the scorecards. We thought either Lainesse would win by a finish relatively early in the fight based on his power and fighting style. Or that Weeks could win late based on Lainesse’s lack of a gas tank. Neither happened and the fight made it to the scorecards.

The Dawodu fight went just as bad. We felt his fast hands could land on Erosa and possibly finish him. Or that Erosa could get a submission or TKO with his striking. Neither thing happened and the fight made it to the scorecards.

Hakeem Dawodu & Irene Aldana parlay (-2 units)

We put all of our eggs into the Dawodu basket and paid for it. He was the cleaner striker on paper and had good takedown defense. To our surprise Erosa was able to out strike him and take him down multiple times.

Aldana came through for us but the ticket had already died with the Dawodu loss. Aldana won round 1 and lost round 2. She was on her way to losing round 3 and the fight until she landed a miraculous up kick body KO and finished Chiasson.

UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Song (PLAYS)

Javid Basharat & Tanner Boser parlay +143 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 9/15/22.

Basharat is a finisher and Gravely has been known to get finished multiple times in his career. Even if the fight goes the distance Basharat has high volume and excellent cardio. Gravely could out wrestle Basharat for 3 rounds but we feel that is unlikely to happen.

Boser is a decent heavyweight who possesses better than average skills. He’s also been in there with the much tougher competition. Nascimento’s quality of opposition is highly suspect. The only time he faced a legit heavyweight he was finished in less than a minute. Boser is the better fighter with much more experience and should win this fight handily.

Gillian Robertson over Mariya Agapova ITD +150 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 9/15/22.

Robertson’s record isn’t the greatest but she’s been in there with some legit fighters. She normally beats who she’s supposed to beat and loses to better fighters than her. If she gets you to the ground she looks to finish you.

Agapova will crush inferior fighters and get exposed by better fighters. Robertson is a better fighter in our opinion. Agapova also has a questionable gas tank and has tired multiple times later in fights. We feel Robertson will be able to take the fight to the ground at some point. Once there her pressure should be too much for Agapova and we can easily see her getting the finish by ground and pound or submission.

Joe Pyfer over Alen Amendovski round 1 +105 (1.25 units) Bet was placed on 9/15/22.

Pyfer is making his UFC debut. He’s a finisher with multiple round 1 finishes on his record. Amendovski is 0-3 in the UFC and has been finished in round 1 twice. This appears to be a squash match as the UFC has given Pyfer a favorable matchup.

Amendovski has little to offer and hasn’t shown anything in his time with the UFC. Pyfer is more than capable of finishing him early. If that happens the UFC will part ways with Amendovski to make room for another Contender Series prospect.
