Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will crown a new light heavyweight champion when former 205-pound titleholder Glover Teixeira collides with power-punching division bruiser Jamahal Hill atop the UFC 283 pay-per-view (PPV) event, with the winner expected to keep the peace until former champion, Jiri Prochazka, returns from shoulder surgery. In addition, the promotion will look to close the book on reigning flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and current interim titleholder Brandon Moreno after their fourth and final chapter. Welterweight veterans Gilbert Burns and Neil Magny will also throw hands at UFC 283 for the right to stay alive in the 170-pound title chase, not long after Paul Craig and Johnny Walker open the PPV main card show with their light heavyweight banger. And let’s not overlook the important 125-pound showdown between women’s flyweight contenders Lauren Murphy and Jessica Andrade!

Round 1: Low kicks from Andrade to start. Really racking ‘em up in a hurry. She tries to blitz, falls short. One minute in. Flying front kick attempt. Murphy seemingly just looking to jab as Andrade tears up her lead leg. Counter two-piece lands for Andrade when Murphy tries to attack. More low kicks and a hard left hook as they trade hands. Murphy shoots, rebuffed, eats punches. Murphy’s landing the jab but it’s not deterring Andrade. Andrade lands a left hook as she blitzes, eats a combo two minutes in. Nice 1-2 by Murphy. Low kick to left hook by Andrade. Big blitz lands for her after Murphy tries to put some punches together. Murphy shoots, drags her down, can’t keep her there with two minutes to go.
Another heavy low kick from Andrade, who’s showing off some remarkably good game planning. Heavy punches on the fence. Two counter rights catch Murphy coming in. Another big rush. Murphy times a low kick for a takedown attempt, can’t get it. Andrade blasts her with combinations with a minute to go. Low kick to 3-2. More low kicks. Hard right hand. Murphy shoots and spins to the rear waist lock, but eats a back fist for her trouble. 10-8 Andrade.
Round 2: Low kick to two-piece from Andrade, who continues to pressure despite Murphy’s best attempts at jabbing. Easy takedown defense and an uppercut for her trouble. Low-high right hand by Andrade. Good 1-2s from Murphy in return a minute in. Andrade comes back with clubbing hooks and denies a double-leg. This is genuinely the best Andrade has ever looked. More low kicks. Murphy shoots, denied. 1-2-3-2 by Andrade and they club each other inside. Two minutes in. Spinning back fist attempt. Big hook kicks off a lengthy combo from Andrade, who denies another shot and slams home a right hand on the break. Another failed shot from Murphy. Andrade tries a jumping front kick with a minute to go.
Another Andrade leg kick hits home. Quick flurry capped by a right hand. Murphy lands a low kick and misses a spinning back fist behind it. She catches a kick and shoots, but gets snapped down by a front headlock. One minute to go. Back to the feet. Low-high combo by Andrade, then more clean right hands. Murphy shoots under a left hook, denied. Andrade ends the round with what looks like a double-digit flurry of power shots. 10-9 Andrade.
Round 3: Andrade is just way, way too much for Murphy. Too fast, too aggressive, too powerful, too good a wrestler. One minute in. Andrade considers a pair of spins. Murphy overhand right. Flurry from Andrade, Murphy counter right, jab exchange. Another failed shot from Murphy and Andrade hauls her to the fence. Takedown into half guard two minutes in. Murphy looking for a kimura. Andrade pops her arm out and lands a pair of punches as Murphy stands. Solid right from Murphy, flurry comes back at her. Andrade blitzing to excellent effect, Murphy answering with counters. Two minutes to go.
Counter body shot from Andrade, then a right hook upstairs. More combos against the fence. Murphy’s not doing as badly this round but she’s still getting mollywhopped. Heavy combos by Andrade and now she’s brutalizing her again. They should stop this. One minute to go. Counter left hook, uppercut. Another clean combination. Andrade pouring on the hurt until the bell. 10-8 Andrade.
Final result: Andrade def. Murphy by unanimous decision
205 lbs.: Paul Craig vs. Johnny Walker
Round 1: Very tentative start. Hard low kick from Walker. One minute in. Craig tosses out his own leg kicks. Awkward jab exchange. Outside and inside low kicks by Walker. Two minutes in. Walker fires a front kick that Craig catches, but before Craig can get anything going, Walker starts brutalizing him with punches and backfists on one leg. These are ridiculously heavy, and one of them sends Craig crashing to the mat. Walker swats him with standing hammerfists as Craig clings to his leg for dear life, and the barrage is enough to send the ref into action.
Final result: Walker def. Craig by TKO (punches)
