UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs Edgar (RESULTS)

Losing Bets

Austin Hubbard (-1 unit)

When we bet on Hubbard we were banking on his experience edge in the UFC playing a major role. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as Joe Solecki’s immense talent was ultimately the deciding factor on the outcome of the fight. Solecki was calm and composed throughout and was able to take Hubbard’s back while standing. He took his time and was able to lock up a choke and finish Hubbard in round 1.

Mizuki Inoue (-2 units)

Once again we were banking on experience overcoming talent and once again we came out on the losing end. Lemos was the stronger fighter and the difference in power was the deciding factor in the decision. Her shots were much more meaningful. She didn’t allow Inoue to get into a groove and was able to win a convincing unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night: Smith vs Rakic (PLAYS)

Sean Brady & Magomed Ankalaev parlay -155 (3 units) Bet was placed on 8/29/20.

Sean Brady is a star in the making. He’s undefeated, well rounded, and brings an exciting fighting style to the octagon. Christian Aguilera on the other hand is more of a journeyman fighter. He’s been finished 4 times in his career by fighters with less talent than Brady brings to the table. Brady should roll here in dominant fashion either by finish or decision.

Magomed Ankalaev has already fought and finished Ion Cutelaba. The first fight ended in controversy because Cutelaba was playing possum pretending to be hurt. He did it so well the referee believed him and stopped the fight prematurely. Prior to the stoppage however Ankalaev was winning the striking exchanges. Cutelaba fights a reckless style and needs to land a haymaker to win this fight. Ankalaev is too skilled and technical to let that happen and should roll to an easy victory here again.

Polyana Viana over Emily Whitmire +112 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 8/29/20.

This is a matchup between 2 lower level women’s mma fighters. Viana came to the UFC highly regarded but hasn’t lived up to those expectations. Whitmire on the other hand has spent most of her career in the UFC but only has a 4-3 record. Viana is the better striker, has better BJJ, and is more experienced overall. We will take all those factors in our favor at dog odds.

Alexa Grasso & Aleksandar Rakic parlay -111 (2 units) Bet was placed on 8/29/20.

Alexa Grasso is making her flyweight debut in the UFC. When we look at this matchup Grasso is the faster, far superior striker. The type of fighter that gives her trouble is an elite wrestler which Ji Yeon Kim is not. Kim is slow and plodding and is there to be hit. The only unknown is how Grasso will do moving up 10 pounds in weight. If she can handle that she should be able to roll in this spot.

Aleksandar Rakic is considered a contender for the light heavyweight title. He was on a roll until he lost a close split decision to Volkan Oezdemir in his last fight. Anthony Smith is the definition of an MMA veteran with a whopping 48 fights under his belt. He has experience for days.

In this fight however we feel the younger Rakic is going to be too fast and athletic for Smith to handle. Smith is coming off a tremendous beat down from Glover Texiera just 3 months ago. In 3 of his last 4 victories Smith has beaten fighters well past their prime. He’s had trouble in the past beating strong, athletic, fighters like Rakic. Now he’s a little older and making a quick turnaround after taking a thorough beating in his last fight. All signs point to Rakic winning and adding his name to the title mix.
