UFC 262: Oliveira vs Chandler (RESULTS)
Winning Bets
Tucker Lutz (0.80 units)
This fight went as expected with Lutz being the more active fighter. Aguilar should’ve went all out with his job seemingly on the line but he didn’t and Lutz got the easy decision victory.
Edson Barboza (1.25 units)
This fight lived up to the hype with it being a war for as long as it lasted. Barboza proved to be more durable and he came in with tons more experience. Burgos is a good, exciting, fighter but he needs to shore up his striking defense.
Beneil Dariush (0.57 units)
Dariush proved to be the better fighter at this stage in their careers. He was able to dominate an aging Ferguson in winning a decisive decision. Ferguson isn’t the same fighter after the Gaethje fight and needs to seriously think about retiring.
Losing Bets
Matt Schnell (-1 unit)
Coming into the fight we felt Schnell was fighting in good form and that he’d be the better striker. That wasn’t the case as Bontorin landed the more meaningful punches and got the decision.
Mike Grundy (-1 unit)
We felt Grundy would be able to implement his wrestling here and that just wasn’t the case. He was only able to land a couple of takedowns and did nothing with them. While on the feet Vannata was clearly the better fighter and got the decision victory.
Antonina Schevchenko (-1 unit)
We felt this fight would play out on the feet and Schevchenko would have the advantage. Lee had other plans as she took the fight to the ground and dominated. We made the mistake of taking Schevchenko against someone in Lee who’s more experienced and a better mma fighter.
Michael Chandler ITD (-1 unit)
It looked like we were going to hit this bet in round 1 as Chandler had Oliveira hurt early in the fight. Oliveira was able to survive and make it to round 2. It was only a matter of seconds into round 2 that Oliveira turned the tables and hurt Chandler. He didn’t let Chandler off the hook and finished him accordingly becoming the new lightweight champion.
UFC Fight Night: Font vs Garbrandt (PLAYS)
Felicia Spencer over Norma Dumont ITD +250 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/21/21.
Felicia Spencer has only lost to 2 of the greatest female fighters of all time (Amanda Nunes & Cris Cyborg). She has a strong grappling game with excellent submissions.
Norma Dumont on the other hand lacks experience and her gas tank is questionable. We see a scenario where the fight hits the ground with Spencer ending up on top. If that happens then the possibility of a submission or ground and pound stoppage becomes very live.
Edmen Shahbazyan over Jack Hermansson by KO +275 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/21/21.
This fight has the feel of one that will end inside the distance. Shahbazyan is making his return to the octagon after suffering his 1st loss. The UFC didn’t do him any favors matching him up against Jack Hermansson.
Shahbazyan’s gas tank failed him in his last fight so he most likely will look to end the fight inside the distance. He still hits hard and is only 23 years old. He’ll have the advantage on the feet and Hermansson has been stopped multiple times before. If Shahbazyan can’t get him out of there then most likely Hermansson will be in a position to end the fight.
Ben Rothwell over Chris Barnett ITD +110 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/21/21.
This bet is all about fading a short notice, overweight, debuting 34 year old fighter and nothing else. Rothwell has a ton of UFC experience and has fought and beaten some impressive names. He’s 39 years old himself but the experience edge is enormous. If Rothwell can’t finish a fighter of Barnett’s caliber then he needs to retire.
Yancy Medeiros & Damir Hadzovic FDGTD +125 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/21/21.
We expect this fight to go like most Medeiros fights. It should feature a lot of action with one or both fighters getting hurt at some point. Also given the matchup the fight should mostly be a standing affair. If that’s the case then it should only be a matter of time before someone gets hurt and a finishing opportunity presents itself.
Bruno Silva over Victor Rodriguez ITD +110 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 5/14/21.
This is a matchup between a fighter who’s starting to put things together and one who probably doesn’t belong in the UFC. Silva comes from a strong fight team and was very impressive in his last fight. Rodriguez on the other hand stepped in on short notice and got destroyed in his UFC debut. Silva is a threat on the mat or the feet and it should only be a matter of time before he finds a finish.
Rob Font over Cody Garbrandt ITD +150 (2.25 units) Bet was placed on 5/21/21.
Rob Font enters this fight in the best form of his life and is on the verge of a title shot. His boxing and jab in particular is one of the best in all of MMA. He’s going to be the better technical striker here against Garbrandt who’s been reckless in most of his recent fights.
Cody Garbrandt peaked as a fighter 4 1/2 years ago when he won the bantamweight title over Dominick Cruz. Since then he’s gone 1-3 getting finished in 3 of those fights. We feel like it’s only a matter of time before his fire fight instincts kick in and Font will be there to pick him apart and finish him.
