Triller and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) are looking to combine powers after announcing that the popular music app has purchased a “majority stake” in the Philadelphia-based bare-knuckle fighting outfit.
On Wednesday, Triller — owner of fight promotion Triller Fight Club — announced their acquisition of the fast-growing boxing organization in a new press release. TFC boss Ryan Kavanaugh called the move a “natural evolution” and the next step in a combat sports revolution.
“We see this as both a natural evolution and also a revolution for combat sports,” said Fight Club’s Ryan Kavanaugh. “We have long admired the tenacity, ferocity, and passion of both the fighters and the team of BKFC. This is the most obvious win-win in the history of combat sports. Our goal has been to continue to bring the younger generation and combat sports viewership together, something that has been diverging up until our involvement, and BKFC does just that. We admire that they fought an uphill battle to create a newly regulated combat sport, and now to have it be the fastest growing combat sport is a real testament to BKFC founder and CEO, Dave Feldman’s vision and his and his team’s ability to execute.”
Triller acquires Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship
On Wednesday, BKFC headman Feldman appeared on The MMA Hour to talk about the partnership between two of the more notable combat sports promotions in the industry. The BKFC founder described the acquisition as a chance for Triller to use its resources to connect BKFC with a younger demographic of fans and help further his promotion’s growth into one of the top fight organizations in the industry.
“We have entered into an agreement to have the majority stake of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship be acquired by Triller Verzuz. So Triller will acquire the majority stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, like I said, to allow more opportunities, more resources, more funding, just everything that we really need to vie for that No. 1, No. 2 spot in combat sports,” said Feldman.
Triller has expanded its notoriety over the last three years by promoting a variety of boxing-based cards. Including the highly successful exhibition fight between boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones, Jr. They were the home of YouTuber turned pugilist Jake Paul’s first few fights, and last year they created a new hybrid striking league in Triad Combat, that pulled in several former UFC stars.
BKFC was formed in 2018 and has steadily progressed the brand’s recognition in combat sports. Helping to legalize the old turned new sport in several states and putting on the first bare-knuckle boxing card in the US since 1889. Like Triller, the promotion has also seen several former UFC stars join its ranks over the last few years.
In his MMA Hour interview, Feldman claimed that the current state of BKFC operations will not change under Triller’s ownership.
