UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Ankalaev (RESULTS)
Winning Bets
JJ Aldrich (+1 unit)
This fight went according to plan with Aldrich able to keep the fight standing. She was the superior striker and when Robertson couldn’t take the fight to the ground all of her win condition went out the window.
Cody Brundage (+1.05 units)
We were very fortunate to win this bet as Brundage was being dominated for 95% of the fight. He was hurt and close to being stopped but managed to survive. An opening appeared and Brundage took advantage of it by finishing Lungiambula by guillotine.
Marlon Moraes / Yadong Song FDGTD & Guido Cannetti / Kris Moutinho FDGTD parlay (+1.77 units)
This violence parlay got off to a good start when Cannetti was able to finish the outgunned Moutinho in round 1. Then the same thing occurred when Yadong’s speed and power were too much for Moraes to handle. He also finished Moraes in round 1.
Azamat Murzakanov / Miranda Maverick / Javid Basharat / Drew Dober / Sodiq Yusuff parlay (+5.73 units)
We were very fortunate to hit this parlay as we appeared to be in the wrong side of two fights. The 1st one was the Murzakanov fight. He was well on his way to losing a unanimous decision until he landed a knee to Nchukwi’s face that finished him in round 3. Maverick was able to easily dominate then submit the since released Mazo. Basharat had a successful UFC debut and easily cruised to a unanimous decision victory. The Dober fight was the 2nd fight we were fortunate to win. McKinney was close to finishing him early in round 1 but Dober was able to survive. Dober then turned things around and was able to finish McKinney later in round 1. Yusuff was able to out land Caceres and implement a leg kick heavy game plan. When Caceres couldn’t get the fight to the ground he was outgunned on the feet.
Losing Bets
Magomed Ankalaev (-3.5 units)
This was the only losing bet in what would’ve been a perfect betting night. Looking back it was a bad bet based on the fact that Ankalaev doesn’t possess that killer instinct. He’s more than content to do just enough to get the victory and doesn’t actively seek a finish in his fights. He even admitted as much in the post fight interview claiming he wanted to get 5 rounds in.
UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs Aspinall (PLAYS)
Ilia Topuria ITD / Gunnar Nelson ITD / Alexander Volkov & Tom Aspinall FDGTD parlay +225 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/18/22.
Ilia Topuria is the much better fighter even moving up a weight class against Jai Herbert. Herbert is a liability on the ground and Topuria has excellent striking as well. It should be only a matter of time before Topuria gets him out of there.
Gunnar Nelson is making his long awaited return to the octagon. He’s an elite grappler with elite submission skills and Sato has been subbed on multiple occasions. This fight also feels like Nelson should be able to end it in a matter of time.
Tom Aspinall is fighting in his 1st 5 round main event. He’s never been out of round 2 in any of his fights as a pro. This fight has the feel that it will end inside the distance one way or another.
Paddy Pimblett (Round 1) over Kazula Vargas +175 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/18/22.
Paddy Pimblett fights like his hair is on fire as his fights normally end inside the distance. The UFC is giving him another winnable fight against Vargas. We expect him to come out guns blazing in front of his home town fans and try to finish Vargas quickly.
Luana Carolina over Molly McCann +115 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/18/22.
Luana Carolina is long and lanky and is fighting in good form. She holds a 7 inch reach advantage over McCann. Also McCann is easy to hit and doesn’t wear damage well. We feel when all is said and done Carolina will have done enough to get the victory most likely by decision.
Dan Hooker over Arnold Allen -105 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/18/22.
There’s a huge difference in experience and quality of opposition here. Hooker has fought the best of the best and Allen hasn’t. Also Allen is a low volume fighter while Hooker presses a good pace. Unless Allen is able to get a finish (which seems unlikely) we expect Hooker to out volume Allen and most likely get the decision victory.
Alexander Volkov over Tom Aspinall +105 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/18/22.
This is another fight where there’s a huge difference in experience. Volkov has also fought the best of the best and Aspinall hasn’t. Also Aspinall’s cardio is unknown as he’s never been past round 2 in his professional career. Aspinall is very skilled but there’s too many unknowns about him so we’re siding with the known commodity in Volkov.
