UFC San Diego: Vera vs Cruz (PLAYS)

Josh Quinlan / David Onama / Marlon Vera parlay +131 (2 units) Bet was placed on 8/12/22.

Almost all of our bets for this card are focused around these 3 fighters. We were big on Quinlan last week before his fight was cancelled and nothing has changed. He’s an explosive fighter with big power. Witt is known for being a chinny fighter. He has good wrestling but Quinlan has good takedown defense. All signs point to a Quinlan stoppage in this spot.

Onama has come on strong since losing his UFC debut on short notice. He’s an excellent striker with an underrated ground game. Landwehr is the much more experienced fighter and is a tough out. The problem is he’s there to be hit and Onama will hit him. We feel Onama’s striking and Landwehr’s lack of striking defense will lead to an Onama victory.

Vera is coming on fast in the bantamweight division. He’s as durable as anyone and hits extremely hard for the division. Cruz is a legend but his time has passed. He might give Vera problems early but it’s only a matter of time before Vera figures him out. Once that happens he should take over the fight and get the victory.

Marlon Vera over Dominick Cruz ITD +210 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 8/12/22.

We already went over why we feel Vera will get the victory. We feel Cruz is near the end of his career and we wouldn’t be shocked if he called it a career if he were to take a beat down. He’s been dropped in his last few fights and Vera hits hard. Cruz has only been finished a couple of times but we took a chance on Vera getting a finish based on recent fights.

Josh Quinlan & David Onama ITD parlay +202 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 8/12/22.

We like Quinlan a lot to get the finish against Witt. If he can avoid getting taken down his power should be too much for Witt to handle. Witt has been finished in all 8 of his losses and Quinlan is a finisher.

Onama isn’t a big power guy but he’s an accurate striker. Landwehr is super tough and durable but he’s a bit of a human punching bag. We can see Onama hurting him at some point and just pouring it on to get the finish.

Josh Quinlan over Jason Witt in round 1 +200 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 8/12/22.

Here we are again with another bet on Quinlan over Witt. We’re very invested on Quinlan who’s making his UFC debut. It’s normally not a good idea to be so invested in someone who’s making their UFC debut but we love the matchup.

As we pointed out earlier Witt is super chinny. We wouldn’t be surprised if he got finished with one of the first punches landed by Quinlan. If we feel that way then it was a no brainer to play Quinlan in round 1.

Nina Nunes over Cynthia Calvillo +155 (2 units) Bet was placed on 8/12/22.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the loser of this fight retired inside the octagon. With that being said we feel the wrong fighter is favored. Nunes hasn’t been very active lately but she’s clearly the better striker. Calvillo is the better grappler but may have a hard time getting the fight to the mat.

Calvillo hasn’t looked good in her last 2 fights and literally quit on the stool in her last fight. That’s never a good look because what’s going to happen if the going gets tough in this fight? We find it hard to believe Calvillo is nearly a 2-1 favorite coming off 3 straight losses going against a capable fighter. We feel the fight will take place mostly on the feet and Nunes will get the best of the striking exchanges and get the victory.
