UFC San Diego: Vera vs Cruz (RESULTS)
Winning Bets
Josh Quinlan round 1 (+2 units)
This fight went as expected with Quinlan getting the 1st round finish. He completely separated Witt from consciousness with a perfectly timed right hand. Even more impressive was his ability put the brakes on an unnecessary follow up hammer fist.
Nina Nunes (+3.10 units)
We felt that the wrong fighter was favored and we were correct. It was a close fight but Nunes ultimately landed the better strikes. Calvillo wasn’t able to implement her ground game so almost all of her win condition went away.
Marlon Vera ITD (+2.10 units)
It took some time but ultimately Vera was able to finish Cruz. Vera is a known slow starter and Cruz was winning the fight early. Vera however is excellent at reading and wearing his opponents out as the fight goes on. He landed a spectacular kick to Cruz’s face which lead to the finish.
Losing Bets
Josh Quinlan ITD / David Onama ITD parlay (-1 unit)
As mentioned earlier Quinlan got the job done with his 1st round KO over Witt. The only fight we were wrong about on the whole card was the Onama fight. We felt Onama was the faster, stronger striker and we were correct.
Onama actually KO’d Landwehr for a split second in round 1 but Landwehr miraculously was able to recover. Landwehr’s pressure and pace completely wore out Onama and ultimately got him the decision victory.
Josh Quinan / Marlon Vera / David Onama parlay (-2 units)
As mentioned earlier both Quinlan and Vera got the job done. Onama once again killed this plus money parlay. It was a miracle that the fight made it the distance as both fighters were extremely close to getting finished at different times of the fight.
UFC 279: Usman vs Edwards 2 (PLAYS)
Jay Perrin over Qileng Aori +110 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 8/19/22.
Perrin was thrown in as a late replacement against a nice prospect in Mario Bautista in his UFC debut. He lost a unanimous decision but was competitive and had his moments. Aori is a big step down in competition for Perrin. That along with a full training camp this time was enough for us to take a chance on Perrin who’s a slight dog.
Marcin Tybura over Alexander Romanov +275 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 8/19/22.
Romanov is 16-0 overall and 5-0 in the UFC. With that being said he’s still untested as he’s literally beaten the worst heavyweights the UFC has to offer. His best UFC win was against Juan Espino and that was controversial as the fight ended due to an accidental low blow. Romanov appeared to be able to continue but was tired and was looking for a way out.
Tybura is nothing special but he’s leaps and bounds a better fighter than what Romanov has faced. He’s been in there with some elite fighters and has a few nice wins on his record. If Tybura can drag the fight on then Romanov would be at a disadvantage. Win or lose the line was too wide to pass up on Tybura against an unproven fighter.
Jared Gordon & Leonardo Santos FDGTD +110 (1.5 units) Bet was placed on 8/19/22.
This fight should go one of two ways. Either Santos is going to finish Gordon early or Gordon is going to finish Santos late. Gordon has a questionable chin and Santos is at his best early in the fight. Santos has a questionable gas tank and Gordon has excellent pace and cardio. Both fight styles fit the profile for the fight to not make it to the final horn.
