De La Hoya Facing Allegations Of Sexual Assault

MMA news

Retired boxing icon and former cage-fighting promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, is facing allegations of sexual assault, as well as a lawsuit for sexual battery, gender violence, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

That’s according to a report from TMZ.

The plaintiff is protected by the alias “Jane Doe” in the wake of her suit filed with L.A. County Superior Court, where she detailed an alleged sexual relationship that started as consensual before evolving into something much darker.

Doe claims she declined various unusual requests and Oscar became frustrated — but things came to a head when he “ultimately held her down with one arm while forcefully trying to insert his fist into Plaintiff’s vagina.”

After the incident, Doe claims she “felt extreme swelling and pain for which she was prescribed medication at urgent care.”

She also “sought treatment with a Doctor of Psychology and Certified Sex Therapist who diagnosed Plaintiff with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder arising from the sexual battery by De La Hoya.”

Drugs and alcohol contributed to the attack, according to the lawsuit.

De La Hoya has been in the news over the past year for his foray into the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), which included the frequently-panned main event between former UFC champions Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz.

“The Iceman” was stopped inside the first round.

It remains unclear if police action was taken in the lawsuit filed against De La Hoya, but it’s important to note the former pugilist is entitled to due process and should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
