Nate Diaz took it upon himself to tell the mixed martial arts (MMA) community that he was no longer competing in the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) main event next month in New York City, thanks to a wonky drug test returned by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
I’m sure even someone who cares as little as Diaz had to know his announcement would come with a certain amount of backlash. Not from the Stockton sack straddlers, mind you, who play conduct cop with everyone living outside the 209 area code.
I’m referring to past and present rivals, like Dustin Poirier.
“Talking all that shit about steroids,” Poirier said on social media. “Fuck you, Nate. You pulled out of my fight too. You a bitch. Fake ass gangster.”
That didn’t sit too well with Nate’s older brother Nick. In fact, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion, who earned a spot on the back of the UFC milk box in early 2015, had some words of his own for “The Diamond.”
“Lol this lil hoe bitch hurt his pussy again,” the elder Diaz wrote on Instagram, in response to videos Poirier posted of his recent surgery. “Good vibes, U gonna be alright D.”
Diaz and Poirier were expected to collide at UFC 230 until this happened.
As of this writing, Diaz has not been pulled from the UFC 244 headliner and opponent Jorge Masvidal feels confident the fight is still official. I guess all we can do now is wait for some sort of confirmation in either direction.
