Midnight Mania! Walker Vs. Weidman Next?

MMA news

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

It’s been less than a month since Corey Anderson violently derailed Johnny Walker’s (17-4) sudden rise, but the Brazilian knockout artist remains plenty confident. Earlier tonight, Walker took to Instagram to call for a bout with former Middleweight kingpin Chris Weidman (14-5).

It’s been about six weeks since Weidman himself was knocked out by the man next in line for the title, Dominick Reyes. Despite that defeat being his fifth stoppage loss in six trips to the Octagon, Weidman has stoutly refused to consider retirement, expressing an interest in a quick turnaround.

In a perverse way, the match up makes sense. Both Walker and Weidman would enter the bout following devastating losses that really dashed their immediate title chances. However, the two are both reasonably big names, so the likelihood of receiving an “easy” match up next is minuscule.

Really, there are two very clear paths for the fight to go: Walker either obliterates his foe with something weird in the opening two minutes, or Weidman’s skill and experience allows him to dominate. If nothing else, it’s guaranteed fun!

So if I understand this post correctly: Colby Covington makes fun of Matt Hughes for getting hit by a train, but Hughes is cool with it because they both like Donald Trump? Only in MMA!

Quadney Dangerfield.

I’m genuinely excited for this match up. Luke Rockhold’s grappling is legitimately great and should match up well against Nick Rodriguez’s style, which is wrestling-first as opposite to being a leg lock specialist. Rodriguez is definitely the deserved favorite, but it should be a great match!
