“Sexyama” has his next opportunity to get back in the win column.
The lineup for ONE Championship: King of the Jungle has been announced, with a pair of title fights and an appearance by Japanese veteran Yoshihiro Akiyama among the highlights.
In the main event, Nong Stamp—better known as “Stamp Fairtex”—defends her ONE atomweight (115-pound) kickboxing title in a rematch against Janet Todd. Stamp defeated Todd in a Muay Thai bout by decision last February. The 22-year-old currently holds ONE’s atomweight belts in both kickboxing and Muay Thai, and is 4-0 in her MMA career.
The co-headliner sees Sam-A Gaiyanghadao facing Rocky Ogden for the opportunity to become the first ONE strawweight (125-pound) Muay Thai champion.
“Sexyama” made his ONE debut last June in a losing effort against Agilan Thani. It was Akiyama’s first fight since November 2015 and he has lost six of his last seven bouts. The former UFC fighter is seeking his first win since defeating Amir Sadollah on Sept. 20, 2014. He faces Egypt’s Sherif Mohamed in a 185-pound bout. Mohamed is 0-3 in the ONE ring so far.
