Former UFC lightweight Desmond Green was jailed on Wednesday in Florida for violating the terms of his pre-trial release in a DUI manslaughter case.

Green, 30, was taken into custody after he was charged on Jan. 22 with felony driving without a license, triggering a motion from the Florida state attorney’s office to revoke the release, per online records for Broward County. It was at least his third such offense.

TSN reported that Green has been released from UFC contract and on Jan. 24 signed a deal with Absolute Championship Akhmat (ACA) for a date to be determined. Green currently is housed in the main Broward County jail as he awaits his next hearing on March 6.

At the time of the most recent infraction, Green faced 20 separate charges stemming from an August 2018 accident that left two women dead. Police claim he was intoxicated at the time of the collision and was driving despite suspended licenses in Florida and New York. Green, via his attorney, has denied the fighter was responsible for the crash.

In the motion to revoke pre-trial release, the state attorney’s noted Green was cited on three occasions for running a red light in violation of his agreement with the court.

This past December, Green attempted to modify the terms of that agreement, seeking permission to travel to Kissimmee, Fla., for a Jan. 11 fight in Valor, the upstart bare-knuckle promotion headed by UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock. He attached a contract guaranteeing a $10,000 show purse and $5,000 “finish bonus.” He also requested to have a GPS monitor and TAD (transdermal alcohol detection) patch removed so he could properly train, arguing they endangered others by remaining on. A judge denied both requests.

Green, who most recently fought on home turf at UFC Rochester in May 2019, will remain jailed until the resolution of his case.
