It’s not often a fighter will earn a UFC title shot coming off a loss, but promotion president, Dana White, likes the idea of having former featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, fighting reigning 135-pound titleholder, Henry Cejudo, just as soon as “Triple C” heals up from shoulder surgery.

With condolences to Joseph Benavidez, of course.

“I will beat everyone, I will become the bantamweight champion,” Aldo told MMA Fighting. “If it’s in March or May, it doesn’t matter to me. I just want [Cejudo] to sign the contract so we can fight. I’ll start my diet and do whatever it takes.”

Aldo made a successful drop to bantamweight at UFC 245.

Unfortunately for “Junior,” the judges awarded Marlon Moraes the split-decision win after three-rounds of hard-fought action. I guess the silver lining to that cloud is the Brazilian’s ability to make the 135-pound mark in a safe and healthy manner.

But is he still championship material?
