UFC 247 light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes on Thursday shared some thoughts on the passing of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, whom he called, “The only idol I’ve ever had as an athlete.”

The 41-year-old former star of the Los Angeles Lakers and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash on Sunday that claimed the lives of everyone on board. 

Reyes was in Los Angeles on Thursday as part of a UFC 247 media tour ahead of his fight with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. The two will headline the fight card on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Houston, Texas.
