Dana White on Kobe Bryant tribute: ‘He was a friend of the UFC, a friend of the sport’


NBA star Kobe Bryant and eight others died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. The other casualties included Bryant’s daughter Gianna, six of their friends, and the pilot.

The UFC honored Bryant and the other victims of the crash at UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes on February 8, 2020. There was a video tribute in the Toyota Center along with a moment of silence.

Following UFC 247, company president Dana White addressed Bryant and why the UFC honored the former Los Angeles Lakers star.
