Ray Borg has had a rocky couple of years, what with the serious health issues his child has been suffering plus a series of unfortunate injuries and happenstances that have cancelled many of his fights. Out of the 22 bouts Borg has signed to fight with the UFC, 32% have resulted in his withdrawl and then another 27% of the ones he made it to resulted in him missing weight.

And despite saying he’d retire from the sport if he missed weight again, Borg … wait for it … missed weight again at UFC Rio Rancho in his attempted return to the flyweight division. Borg weighed in at 128 pounds for his fight against Rogerio Bontorin, which he went on to win via decision.

Not a good look.

Honestly, we’re shocked that he’s been given as much leeway to miss weight as many times as he has, but everyone agrees that Ray is a great guy otherwise. He just ain’t a flyweight, which is why the UFC is reportedly booting him back up to bantamweight (where he still missed weight in March of 2019). That’s according to one of the official UFC rankings submitters, Erik Kowal:

We’re honestly just shocked that the UFC even let him try to move back down after missing the bantamweight limit not even a year ago. Would anyone be surprised if he missed bantamweight again? Perhaps he needs to let his inner “Rumble” go and move up to lightweight.
