This is the UFC 249 live blog for Jeremy Stephens vs. Calvin Kattar, a featherweight clash for Saturday’s fight card at VyStar Veteran’s Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.

Round 1: Jason Herzog is the third man in the cage for this featherweight fight. Stephens comes across the cage with a jumping attack and then starts pressing the action right away. Stephens lands a sharp right hand and body kick. Kattar appears to be trying to find his rhythm. Good body shot and low kick from Stephens. Kattar lands a low kick of his own but it’s Stephens who is dictating the action through the first two minutes. Stephens backs Kattar up and then lands a big hook to the body. The leg kicks have been a very effective weapon for Stephens so far and Kattar cannot seem to get comfortable. Stephens lands a good right hand and Kattar responds with his own. Great body kick from Stephens. Kattar starts getting some combos off but a strong low kick buckles Kattar’s knee for a moment. Stephens goes back to work on the left. MONSTROUS RIGHT HAND from Kattar snaps Stephens’ head back and gets him backing up but Stephens won’t stay down for long. The two exchange shots. Kattar lands a body kick that Stephens catches and then rifles a right hook into Kattar as the round ends.
