Longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender Jessica Eye, who still maintains her No. 1 ranking in the 125-pound division, recently went under the knife to repair “overdue” elbow issues commensurate with more than a decade of action in mixed martial arts (MMA).

“Heys guys, update, surgery went great,” Eye, 33, told her followers on social media. “I had a little work done on my elbow that’s long overdue. I will be back in the gym working on Monday like always and working hard to be a better me. Thanks for all the love.”

After coming up short against flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko in their UFC 238 title fight last June, Eye (15-7, 1 NC) got back into the win column by outpointing the rough-and-tumble Viviane Araujo at UFC 245 back in December (more on that fight here).

The surgery is expected to keep the “Evil” flyweight sidelined until late March.
