Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will soon be the envy of many of his contemporaries. As he takes his “polish power” to the movies.
“The New Pitbull is coming to theaters on November 11.”
That is the caption on a Saturday video post from Blachowicz (28-9), via Instagram. The video in question? It’s a short sizzle reel from a new movie the 38-year-old looks to be playing the lead-in. The film is titled “Pitbull” and is set to be released on Nov. 11 in Poland.

In the footage, the one-time UFC 205-pound champ is taking part in all the classic poses we have all come to expect of an action star in films. He is rescuing babies from danger. He is holding a gun and ready to shoot down some bad guys. There are explosions. There are even several shots of him showcasing a well-practiced Diaz Bros. mean-mug for the camera.
The wielder of “polish power” is far from the first UFC star to add a legitimate acting credit to his listing on movie database IMDB. He is not even unique in the history of his own division. Other light heavyweight legends and UFC Hall-of-Famers in Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, and Tito Ortiz have put together a solid resume of credits on their acting resumes.
However, no UFC star can say they were a champion and a lead in a newly released motion picture. Blachowicz could have broken the mold, but that historic moment was curtailed last weekend at UFC 267. Last Saturday on “Fight Island,” his reign as division king was brought to an end in his second defense by 42-year-old light heavyweight stalwart Glover Teixeira. The Brazilian won the gold in his second try by second-round submission.
“Pitbull” is written and directed by Patryk Vega. It is unclear if the Polish-language film will be released internationally or on any streaming services in the coming weeks and months.
