Senegalese wrestling giant and viral MMA debutant Oumar Kane, commonly known as “Reug Reug”, will make his second outing in the cage at ARES FC 2 on April 3 when he faces another experienced foe in undefeated Russian Ivan Romanov.
ARES FC confirmed the fight to MMA Fighting on Tuesday. The event is set to take place at the Forest National venue in Brussels.
Reug Reug (1-0-0) went viral following his debut win over an experienced European campaigner, Sofiane Boukichou, in Dakar, Senegal, which also marked Afro-European promotion ARES’ first event. In the December bout, Reug Reug showcased his strength with a spectacular slam as he escaped a kimura attempt from his French opponent.
The Senegalese heavyweight completely overwhelmed Boukichou despite being vastly out-experienced, and brought a close to the contest in the second round with a fascinating display of aggression and power.
Ivan Romanov (5-0-0) will fight outside of his Russian homeland for the first time when he meets the African sensation. In his last outing in October, he won a unanimous decision against Norik Tadevosyan when they met at AFC 27.
