PFL Season 2 finalist Daniel Pineda has returned to the UFC six years after he was released by the promotion.

Pineda, 34, recently completed a six-month suspension he received for adverse drug test that scratched him from the finals of PFL’s Season 2 featherweight tournament. The Nevada Athletic Commission found he had an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio and overturned his quarterfinal and semifinal wins to no-contests. He denied wrongdoing.

Multiple people with knowledge of the signing confirmed the news to MMA Fighting. MMA Junkie was the first to report the news. Pineda’s return opponent has not been confirmed yet.

Pineda fought seven times in the octagon from 2012 to 2014. He earned an overall record of 3-4 in the promotion and was released afterward.

On the regional circuit, he racked up an 8-2 record before stepping in on short notice to serve in the PFL’s featherweight tournament. He delivered impressive finishes of Movlid Khaibulaev and Jeremy Kennedy before his drug testing issues.
