Standout welterweights Geoff Neal and Neil Magny have agreed to fight at a UFC event scheduled for Aug. 29.

Multiple people with knowledge of the targeted fight confirmed it MMA Fighting following a report from ESPN.com. Contracts for the welterweight matchup have not been finalized, but the fighters are expected to put pen to paper shortly. The Aug. 29 event takes place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

The fight could have future title implications, particularly for Neal, who’s won all five of his octagon bouts with four finishes. He is currently ranked No. 10 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings. Magny, who stands at No. 14, has won his previous two fights, outpointing Jingliang Li and Anthony Rocco Martin in successive outings.

Neal recently vented about a lack of fights available to him and told BJPenn.com he was back to his old job of waiting tables as he waited for a fight.

The late summer card is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight fight between Anthony Smith and Aleksandar Rakic.
