Omari Akhmedov is no longer on the UFC roster, multiple people with knowledge of the situation told MMA Fighting.

The American Top Team fighter has parted ways with the company after a split decision loss to Brad Tavares this past Saturday at UFC 264 in Las Vegas, which dropped his overall UFC record to 9-5-1 with two “Fight of the Night” bonuses to his credit.

Akhmedov (21-6-1) competed under the UFC banner since 2013 and scored key wins over Tom Breese, Ian Heinisch, Zak Cummings and Tim Boetsch in the past eight years. “Wolverine” joined the UFC as a 12-1 prospect.

The 33-year-old Russian middleweight has shared the eight-sided cage with big-name veterans like former UFC titleholder Chris Weidman and Gunnar Nelson. At one point, he went unbeaten in six bouts, including a majority draw with future title contender Marvin Vettori in his return to the middleweight division in 2017.
