A matchup between top Bellator bantamweights has a new target date.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a rebooking of a bout between Patchy Mix and James Gallagher is in the works for a Bellator event on Nov. 5. Sources also confirmed that the bout—as well as the event—could take place in Ireland, but details about location and venue are still being worked out. MMA Junkie first reported the potential booking.

A shoulder injury forced Gallagher out of the pairing’s initially scheduled booking at Bellator 258. Mix remained on the card and submitted UFC veteran Albert Morales in the third round, a performance Gallagher believed was the former title challenger’s “worst,” he told MMA Fighting backstage at the event.

Mix was able to bounce back from his first pro loss to Juan Archuleta for the vacant bantamweight title at Bellator 246 this past September. “No Love” holds promotional finishes of Ricky Bandejas and Isaiah Chapman, as well as a first-round submission win over Yuki Motoya at RIZIN 20 in December 2019.

Gallagher, 24, enters the biggest fight of his career on a four-fight winning streak, which includes submission wins over Steven Graham, Jeremiah Labiano and Cal Ellenor. A longtime teammate of Conor McGregor, Gallagher has been training in the U.S. at Glory MMA and Fitness for the last several months.
