UFC 272: Covington vs Masvidal (RESULTS)

Winning Bets

Umar Nurmagomedov ITD (+2.60 units)

In hindsight we should’ve bet more on the talented prospect Nurmagomedov. Especially since we were able to get him at a generous line. He was way too fast and strong for the aging Kelleher and was able to submit him in round 1 for the victory.

Losing Bets

Jamie Mullarkey (-1 unit)

We knew playing this fight either way would be high variance as both fighters entered the fight on win streaks. Turner proved to be too much for the normally durable Mullarkey clipping him and finishing him in round 2.

Kevin Holland by submission (-1 unit)

This was a +900 prop that we felt was conceivable to happen so we played it. Holland ended up winning the fight while on the ground but it was by TKO and not submission.

Devonte Smith & Ludovit Klein FDGTD / Sergey Spivak & Greg Hardy FDGTD parlay (-1 unit)

We were fairly confident that both fights would end inside the distance. Unfortunately only one fight did that as the Smith fight somehow managed to make it to a decision. The Spivak fight ended up finishing in round 1.

Dustin Jacoby / Kennedy Nzechukwu / Marina Rodriguez parlay (-1 unit)

Losing this ticket wasn’t only frustrating but it kept us from having a winning night. We were correct on the Jacoby and Rodriguez picks although they were super close decisions. The Nzechukwu fight was the frustrating one. He clearly was the better fighter with more volume but he lost a point on a foul. His fight IQ is terrible and we knew this going into the fight so shame on us.

UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Ankalaev (PLAYS)

Magomed Ankalaev ITD over Thiago Santos +120 (3.5 units) Bet was placed on 3/11/22.

Ankalaev is a near future title contender and Santos appears to be near the end of his career. Santos just isn’t the same fighter after his close loss to Jon Jones. Ankalaev is literally better than him everywhere and we expect him to finish Santos before the final horn making a case for the next title shot.

JJ Aldrich over Gillian Robertson +100 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/11/22.

This fight boils down to where it primarily takes place. If it plays out on the feet the advantage goes to Aldrich. We anticipate Aldrich will keep the fight standing where she’s the much better striker. If that happens then Aldrich at the very least should win a decision and a TKO victory is conceivable.

Cody Brundage over Dalcha Lungiambula +105 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/11/22.

This fight is similar to the Aldrich fight as where it primarily takes place will determine the winner. We feel Brundage has the much better wrestling and will be able to take the fight to the ground where he could dominate. Lungiambula is an average fighter at best and shouldn’t be favored against many fighters in the UFC.

Marlon Moraes / Yadong Song FDGTD & Guido Cannetti / Kris Moutinho FDGTD parlay +177 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/11/22.

We expect pure violence to occur in both of these fights. Moraes is the key figure in his fight as he’s live to finish in round 1 but is likely to get finished after round 1. Both Cannetti and Moutinho like to throw punches and get hit rather easily. We see that fight as being a slug fest where someone doesn’t make it to the final horn.

Azamat Murzakanov / Miranda Maverick / Javid Basharat / Drew Dober / Sodiq Yusuff parlay +573 (1 unit) Bet was placed on 3/11/22.

Murzakanov is the much more experienced and skilled fighter and the UFC is giving him a winnable fight for his debut. Maverick is still a good prospect and is a much better overall fighter than Mazo. Basharat is a talented newcomer who the UFC is also giving a winnable matchup for his debut. Dober has been competitive with the best lightweights in the UFC. He’s getting a big step down in competition and McKinney is stepping in on extremely short notice. Yusuff is still an intriguing prospect who lost a close fight to a better prospect in his last fight. Caceres is a vet on a 5 fight winning streak but those wins where against bottom level UFC competition.
