Amanda Nunes open to Valentina Shevchenko trilogy, thinks Shevchenko lost her last fight

Amanda Nunes regained her double-champ status in the UFC 277 main event on Saturday, defeating Julianna Peña by unanimous decision.

Prior to Peña defeating Nunes at UFC 269 last December, no one had come close to defeating ‘The Lioness’ except flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Shevchenko’s only two UFC loses are to Nunes in the bantamweight division prior to the creation of the 125-pound weight class. Both fights were competitive and many felt Shevchenko won their second outing.

During the UFC 277 Post-fight Press Conference, Nunes seemed open to the idea of a third bout against ‘Bullet.’

“She’s the champion too. That would be awesome,” Nunes said when asked about a trilogy bout with Shevchenko.

Following Nunes’ UFC 277 win, Shevchenko tweeted, “Looks like Amanda decide to fully copy my stand up game. Great fight both ladies!”

Nunes responded to Shevchenko’s comments and criticized the flyweight champion’s last performance. Shevchenko defeated Taila Santos by split decision at UFC 275.

“She has to put out something to stand out. Right now, as a champion, Valentina, she lost her last fight,” Nunes said.
